Plasmage® device and picture of woman's face with targeted treatments

Plasmage®

What is Plasmage®?

Plasmage® is a new, exciting device for aesthetic treatments. Using Plasma Energy technology, Plasmage® treats a variety of difficult areas with minimal downtime and pain. For patients, the device offers a real alternative to the daunting prospect of surgery.

Patient safety is incredibly important, which is why Plasmage® is currently the only device to use fractional plasma, meaning that the device will not go above the preset temperatures during treatment.

How does Plasmage® work?

The device creates a series of small dots on the skin that are triggers for an immediate reaction – the tissue is tightened, lifted, contoured, and renewed. Plasmage® uses the fourth state of matter – gas – to achieve this effect. An ionisation of gases from the air occurs, creating a small electric arc. These electric arcs are used to treat a certain problem, while the surrounding skin remains unaffected.

Who is the treatment intended for?

Plasmage® can be used for a number of skin problems as well as for rejuvenating different areas of the face and is safe for use on all skin types.
Eyelift (non surgical blepharoplasty) treatments have amazing results: the effects are similar to eyelid surgery procedure but without any scarring and the recovery period is short, with impressive results.

The same procedure can be used for removing wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, keloids, fibroids, various skin irregularities, and excess skin.

Is treatment painful?

An anaesthetic cream is first applied to the area to be treated and left to work for around 25 minutes. You only feel a brief tingly sensation. Recovery is entirely pain-free. Swelling may occur in the treated area but will disappear in 2-3 days. You can then return to all your regular daily activities.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the area to be treated, treatment lasts around 30-60 minutes. This includes time to apply anaesthetic cream to the area being treated.

After treatment, it is necessary to apply a sun protection cream and the use of sunglasses (following eye lift treatments). Small crusts will fall off in 5-7 days, and the skin will be completely renewed after 6-8 weeks.

What are the results?

Results can be immediately visible after treatment, but you will have a good result 8 weeks after treatment. Many people have fantastic results with 1 treatment but some people may require up to 3 treatment to obtain optimal results. The optimal results occur between 3-6 months after treatment. These results will last approximately 1-2 years. Treatment can be repeated in the future if necessary.

Why choose Plasmage® over surgery?

  • Long lasting results
  • Quick procedure
  • Significantly cheaper than surgery - Surgical blepharoplasty ranges between £2000-£5000
  • Less downtime
  • No general anaesthetic
  • No stitches or cuts to the skin

Aftercare

Some swelling is entirely normal immediately after treatment, this usually peaks within the first 24 hours after treatment before gradually settling over the next 1-2 days.  There will be small carbon crusts resembling scabs to the treated areas - these must be allowed to heal and not picked, they will fall off around 5-7 days after treatment, revealing new pink skin underneath.

It is crucial that the treated areas are kept clean and dry following treatment and that sun exposure is avoided while the crusts are healing.  The wearing of sunglasses is advised to help protect the eye area following eyelid treatment.  A high factor sunscreen (at least SPF 30) must then be applied before any sun exposure for the following 6-8 weeks.

If the aftercare advice is not followed as recommended, it is more likely that areas of hyperpigmentation can develop in the treated areas - leaving small brown dots!

Kelly will provide full aftercare advice following treatment.  There are aftercare packs containing appropriate products available to purchase at a discounted rate within the clinic.
