There are two types of treatment that we offer, and these are defined by the different areas of the body.

DesoBody 

• This treatment is used to target areas of the body where stubborn fat may reside. These areas include: abdomen, flanks, back 'bra rolls', underarms, inner knees, upper and lower arms 'bingo wings' and inner thighs.

DesoFace 

• This treatment is used to target areas of the face where stubborn fat may reside. including double chins, jowls, and neck fat.  

You cannot have DesoFace or DesoBody if:

• You are pregnant or you are breastfeeding.
• You are under 18 years of age. 
• You are allergic to soy or vitamin B.
• You have any hormonal disease. 
• You have any organ disease (e.g renal/hepatic failure. 
• You suffer from a severe auto-immune disease.
• You have any acute, active infection(s) ​

This treatment is perfect for clients with a normal body weight or who are slightly overweight with stubborn, localised fatty deposits which prove difficult to shift when on a diet or performing physical activity.  If you are unsure, feel free to book in for a no- obligation aesthetic consultation. 

Yes, Deso Face and DesoBody fat dissolving injections are safe when administered by a trained practitioner. These treatments have minimal side effects with little to no interference with clients daily activities.

DesoFace and DesoBody contains the active ingredient sodium deoxycholate (deoxycholic acid), a synthetic form of a substance that your body makes and uses to absorb fat (bile salt). DesoFace and DesoBody are FDA approved and are safer, more effective and more comfortable than other, older fat dissolvers on the market such as Aqualyx®, due to the removal of phosphatidylcholine and the fact that DesoFace and DesoBody are produced in different concentrations specific to the face or body.

The process by which the active substance destroys the fat cells - and also for your body to remove them, takes a little time as your body slowly metabolises and expels the released lipids from the destroyed fat cells.

Every client is different, but you can expect to start to see results 3-4 weeks after 1-2 treatments with the final effect approximately eight weeks following your treatment. 

Yes, the fat cells in the treated areas are permanently destroyed.  However, the treatment does not prevent your body from accumulating new fat if there are dietary/lifestyle issues. This is not a suitable treatment for obesity/weight loss.

We recommend a course of at least 3–4 DesoBody treatment sessions with approximately 6 week intervals. DesoFace treatments may require between 2-4 treatments. This is dependant on the treatment area and the amount of fat to treat.

The procedure itself is relatively painless, some clients report a small amount of discomfort. After 15 minutes, you may experience itching, redness and mild swelling of the treated area(s) - this is because the product is starting to disrupt the fat cells so they release their contents, which results in inflammatory necrosis of the cell and reduction in the size of adipocytes (fat cells). Therefore, this initial swelling and redness, is perfectly normal and expected.

Any redness and discomfort should disappear after around 2 hours. During the next few weeks, there may be sensitivity when the treated fatty tissue is pressed. 

Most common risks and side effects are associated with injection of the product itself, that is, slight discomfort and a possible slight 'burning' sensation. 

Any initial redness and discomfort should disappear after around 2 hours, although mild discomfort may persist for 48 hours. 

Swelling, tenderness, redness, and bruising in the area may persist for several days. 

Bruising is frequent.

Bruises/red patches may feel 'hot'. This is normal, and isn't any cause for concern unless you are otherwise unwell.

During the next few weeks, there may be sensitivity when the treated fatty tissue is pressed.

Less than 10% of patients report transient nodules. These do not require treatment or intervention and will spontaneously resolve within one month.

We advise you to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment and also to avoid taking ibuprofen.  Both of these things can increase the amount of bruising you may experience.

• Avoid aspirin for pain to reduce the risk of bruising or bleeding. Paracetamol is acceptable. Intermittent cooling with ice can be used by applying for 5 minutes post-procedure. A simple fan can also be helpful for discomfort.  
• Bruising may occur.
• Avoid direct sunlight, sunbeds and heat therapies during the treatment period. 
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours following treatment. 
• Avoid hot baths and showers (tepid water only) for 5 days. 
• Nodules are not uncommon. They can last up to a month and usually disappear without any intervention. However, your Practitioner would need to assess anything unusual.  
• A compression garment may be worn for 2-5 days following treatment (this will be guided by your Practitioner’s recommendation).
